Emily Louise Beresford

Emily Louise Beresford (b. 1995) grew up in Connecticut, USA and graduated from Bard College in New York in 2018 with a BFA in photography. Emily is chairperson for the Association FotoGrafisk Værksted in Højbjerg and a board member for BKF Midt.

In 2019, Emily moved to Denmark, where she made her debut on the Danish art scene that same year at the Artists' Autumn Exhibition, Den Frie Udstillingsbygning. Subsequently, Emily has exhibited at, among others; Fotografisk Center, KH7 Artspace, Oblong, Mellemrummet, Kunstbygningen i Vrå, and Kunsthal Aarhus.

Emily lives and works in Aarhus, DK.

 Drawing on her family life, Emily Louise Beresford works with the passage of time through portraits, landscapes and still lifes. She lets light guide the images, creating tension between darkness and her subject. 

Many of the works follow the repetitions of everyday life. With an intimate insight into a quiet life, she creates space for the banal. She uses her art to explore relationships and family history. 

Photography for Emily is a moment of connection between the photographer, the subject, time and light.
